Ceramics

I have no problem admitting that I absolutely love ceramics. So I did some research beforehand, and found Kogga, a small gallery and studio in downtown Reykjavik. The prices are available online in EUR, so you get a clear idea of what things cost (tip: have a converter available on your phone, because ISK to DKK, etc. isn't easy to calculate in your head). Because of limited space in my luggage, I bought a small ceramic egg, and a salt boat (they give you a small packet of salt with it). In other words, great souvenirs that are very Icelandic, and far from generic. If you're into that.

Skincare

Living in a climate that can be quite harsh, and changeable, it's important to look after your skin. I didn't plan on buying any skincare, given how there are many great available options in Denmark, but the moment I held a bag of Verandi coffee scrub in my hands, I was sold. Or rather, the scrub was sold. To me. You can buy the scrub in many stores in Reykjavik or at the airport, but I bought mine at the concept store Akkúrat. I also bought a soap from Urd, called Dimma (which means autumn), on the smell alone, at the same store. My cousin bought a soothing shampoo from the brand Sóley Organics, but neither of us bought anything from the Blue Lagoon, because none of their products weren't anything we needed in our lives. However, their lava mud mask was very good, and they do sell it in travel sizes.

Wool

There are a lot of warm blankets and sweaters to buy (at Rammagerðin - a great "tourist" shop with high quality products. Tip: You will find better selections at the stores in Reykjavik than the one at Keflavik airport) but I opted for a pair of green wool socks from Geysir Heimur; easy to pack, easy to wear, easy to love.

The ones that got away

There's some great stuff to buy, especially in the concept stores scattered around Reykjavik, so when I go back I will buy the coffee mug with an expressionless viking on it (the joke being how we look the same regardless of our mood. You can't tell, but I'm smiling as I type this), the t-shirt that says "I don't speak Icelandic" but in Icelandic (my cousin snagged one, so I will be forever jealous), candle holders from Dögg Design, more ceramics from Kogga, more salt, and 90% of whatever Geysir Heimur has in store.
